Now It’s Time To Say Goodbye…At Least For a Little While

There were so many things I wanted to post about today. The death of Michael Jackson, the police brutality inflicted upon Trevor Casey and the death of Farrah Fawcett. Upon reflection, or maybe just plain insomnia, I’ve come to realize that I am overwhelmed. Between research, communication, blogging, youtubbing and socializing, I’m online during too much time during the day (and night). With 3 kids on Summer break, class, an employment search, a thesis that won’t write itself, I have more than enough on my plate right now. So, as much as I appreciate your taking the time to read my blog, I have to take a hiatus, at least for a little while. I’m not sure exactly how long so I won’t attempt to give a time frame. My hope is that my readers will take this time to get caught up on older posts and maybe comment on previous posts. Until my next post…

Although some people have debated the racial stereotyping of the movie, I was instantly drawn to the overt sexism of the movie. Aside from Sam’s mother, the main female characters seemed to have one purpose- to sell sex. Even Sam’s mother was slapped on her behind by her husband at one point. The one female Decepticon uses her sexuality to fulfill her role. There is clear gender division. Any weakness on the part of males in the movie is condemned by likening the male to certain parts of the female anatomy.  Read more »

That plea ensures that 1) Brown will not serve any jail time and 2) the public never has to hear the details of that evening straight from Rihanna’s mouth. Apparently, it still seems that Rihanna isn’t ready to take responsibility for her own actions, or lack thereof, in this case. Let’s review:

1) Rihanna did not call the police when Brown was beating her. Someone else heard her screams and called authorities.  Read more »
