Sleep…what’s that?

I’ve been noticeably absent for a little while. Those of you in the academic circle certainly understand why– it’s finals season. That time of year when sleep does not exist and showering is a luxury. Where no one looks at you twice if you’re wearing yesterday’s clothes because they slept in their office too. In the past couple of weeks, I have…hardly seen my kids…not slept more than a couple of hours a night…laptop crashed…burned myself twice (studying, in bed at 3am–passed out and rolled over on my reading lamp!)…learned that you can indeed survive on tea, cookies and chips…grown to loathe the free time undergraduates seem to have…appreciated not having a man (can’t deal with one right now)…grown to loathe undergraduates (I have to grade their exams)…read and written more than should be humanly possible…grown to loathe undergraduates (no real reason this time, I just need a scapegoat). Not to worry, in the midst of the madness I have found a solution– I am going to pick the kids up from school today and we’re off to the movies. Madagascar 2 is just the relief we need.

    You got this, Erica. Please don’t blame everything on us poor poor undergraduate students! We don’t sleep either, even if it’s cause our upstairs neighbors were partying all night :(

    LOL, I think I prefer to blame undergrads, especially until after I’m done grading the 80+ papers on my desk. Don’t worry Michelle…you’re not like the “rest” of them.

    You must have very sensitive skin to burn it on a reading lamp, or your bulbs have very high wattage! Just glad you got thru. Actually I figure that’s the reason i didn’t get my phone call on Friday. Gotta have make up time. And also, a good man would understand that you got a lot going on, don’t count the good ones out!
